We took a short weekend trip to Utah. Our first stop was Zion, where we hiked the Observation Point Trail. I hadn't hiked this trail in many years, so I was excited to experience it again and see if it had changed.
After the climb out of the valley, the walls close in and we were surrounded by beautiful flowing red rock canyons.
At the right time of day, the light shines in and you get some fascinating lighting on the walls.
Once you round the bend and climb out of the canyon, the views get better and better.
The end of the trail. Looking back through Zion gives you a sense of how enormous and long it must have taken for the river to carve out the canyon.
Overly friendly chipmunks. They are used to being fed by hikers who take long rests at the top.
Every time you hike through the canyons, you can see new patterns in the walls.
After leaving the hike, we spotted a turkey. When we got too close, much to our surprise, it took off and flew across the river! I had never seen a turkey fly before.
