Early morning on day three. I was scolded by some "photographers" that we were too close to the arch. It's a tricky place, but we tried to camp in a much more hidden spot than where most people camp.
Just as we packed up camp it started to sprinkle. That made me a little nervous as we had to climb up a steep part to get out of the canyon.
Our final look at the arch. Around the bend was the way out.
Johnny bravely faced his fear of heights and made his way up the rock face. Luckily Nini was willing to help with his pack.
Sometimes there is a rope, sometimes there isn't. This is a very tricky climb with packs on, so we were lucky that the rope was intact.
A beautiful backdrop to a treacherous climb.
A view of our campsite and the arch from above.
Our final obstacle was a barren stretch of rocky landscape.
Johnny looking heroic after summiting a mini-mountain. It doesn't look like much, but we were tired and every little climb was an exhausting effort.
Finally finished, before the rain hit.
I flew the drone to check out the surrounding landscape.
Finished! This has to be one of our favorite hikes. There were so many fun obstacles and varied terrain, and the scenery was gorgeous.
